I just finished the book and found it difficult to find a sympathetic character. I was so upset by some of those who died on the mountain, but others (as wrong as this may be) felt justified to be left in the cold for their poor choices. I feel like a very small persone when I say that, but I really have warred with myself over these feelings, and I keep coming up with the same end result. Those feelings only tangled further by reading the afterword in my edition. I want to run out and read The Climb, but would never add revenue to the coffers that way. If I do, I'll get it through the library. I'm left angry, but feeling unable to point the finger at anyone in particular. Perhaps it's part of the nature of the climbing sport. I'm not sure.
